My Reiki Story
I was in crisis back in 2005 and was looking for something, anything that would help when Reiki came along and showed me hope.
I had no idea what it was when I booked the training, I just knew that I was drawn to it and had to find out. I went along on the first day of level one training and discovered a whole new world of energy and spiritual support I didn’t know I needed at that point in time.
I used the excuse that I was doing it for my son, who had been diagnosed with a life limiting genetic condition at the age of almost 2. I told myself, and everyone else, that I wanted to be able to help him. That was partly true, but the reality of it was that I was shattered. Grieving for the life I had imagined but that he would never live. Grieving for the life I would never live too.
Reiki brought me peace, it brought me healing like I had never felt before and I made it through the grief. I emerged out the other side and learned to accept the new life we had with a determination to make sure we lived it well no matter the limitations we faced.
